Those players who are successful at Hex have not only mastered the rules of this game but have also been able to recognize patterns that often lead to winning. The numerous options available to the players make exhaustive proof an impossible strategy. This lesson is comprised of several different versions of the game. The versions differ in their complexity and sophistication. Being able to manipulate the playing board into untenable choices for the opponent follows directly from the ability to build successful patterns.
