Learning Summary
In the first activity, Meet the Evidence, students see all of the physical evidence collected in the case.
They begin exercising their powers of observation, and learn that they must make some assumptions in order to proceed.
They also collectively decide how to proceed (and this may differ from the order in which these lesson summaries appear).
Learning Objectives The students will:
- begin refining their observational skills;
- begin collecting and organizing information which they will ultimately use to construct a formal case against the perpetrators;
- learn the difference between observations and inferences;
- understand that some assumptions must be made in order to make progress on a complex scientific investigation.
