Look Up in the Sky and on the Ground…!

One a bright, sunny day, a one hundred foot airplane casts a one hundred foot shadow on the ground when it is fifty feet in the air.

Assuming that the sun is still shining brightly, how big of a shadow will the same airplane cast on the ground when the plane is one hundred feet and four hundred feet in the air?  Make sure that your answer includes the length of the shadow for both heights above the ground.

Did you know…?  Research has shown that the sun impacts our productivity at work and school.  Schools with more daylight saw their students outperform counterparts in darker schools by 5% to 15%.

Have fun – Dr. Fraccaro
