Near-Earth Asteroid Tracking (NEAT)

Mr. Moyer,

Please give this message to your Summer 'AD'Ventures students.

It has come to our attention that your group has been charged with the task of investigating the need for a search facility with the sole purpose of tracking Near-Earth Objects, or NEOs. We would like to advise you that there is absolutely no need for this facility.

The Near Earth Asteroid Tracking (NEAT) Project is a cooperative effort supported by both NASA and the United States Air Force. The sole purpose of the project is to complete a comprehensive search of the sky for near-Earth asteroids and comets. The existence of another NEO search team would only serve to steer government funding and resources away from NEAT, which has been established for some time, and any findings made would be only a duplication of the research that we are doing at this time. Respectfully,

Dr. Alyssa Miller
