AURORA-- Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® (IMSA) mathematics teacher Ruth Dover of Aurora has been named one of three Illinois finalists for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). The Presidential Awardees will be announced in the spring of 2008.
Dover, a mathematics teacher at IMSA since 1991, was chosen based on criteria including: subject-matter competence; sustained professional growth in science or mathematics and in the art of teaching; ability to engage students through a variety of teaching strategies; ability to foster curiosity and to generate excitement about the uses of science and mathematics, and an experimental and innovative attitude in their approach to teaching.
