AURORA-- The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® (IMSA) has scheduled an IMSA Preview Day for Sunday, January 29, 2006. IMSA Preview Day is an opportunity for students, their parents and teachers to learn more about the Academy's academic and residential life programs.

IMSA's advanced college preparatory program enrolls 650 students (grades 10-12) who are academically talented and who demonstrate a passion for mathematics and science. All students live on campus. Tuition and most room and board are provided by state funds.

Prospective students and their families can learn about the admissions process, take a student-led tour of the IMSA campus, speak with faculty, sit in on a mock class and meet IMSA residential staff, parents and alumni. Preview Day also includes a special segment for parents and students interested in IMSA 2006 summer programs.

The IMSA Preview Day segment showcasing IMSA's college preparatory program will be held from 10: 30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and no advance reservations are needed. These are formal events. Please arrive by 10:30 a.m. to take advantage of all offerings.

The IMSA Preview Day segment showcasing IMSA's 2006 summer programs will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. During that time, the IMSA Kids Institute® will be presenting "Summer@IMSA Sneak Peek" featuring hands-on science programming for elementary and middle school students and the first opportunity to register for IMSA summer programs.

Preview Day also will feature the launch of the IMSA-ComEd Cyberquiz 4Kids online math and science brainteaser for Illinois students in grades six through nine. Each student who submits a correct answer to a monthly brainteaser will receive a certificate, an invitation to a recognition ceremony in May and a chance to win an iPod Shuffle®.
