LOCAL RESIDENT(S) SERVE ON IMSA STUDENT REVIEW COMMITTEE
AURORA—Fifty-two people representing various Illinois organizations evaluated student applications to the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® (IMSA) April 5-6 as members of IMSA’s 2001 Student Review Committee.
Committee members, representing various educational, professional, and civic organizations in Illinois, volunteer their time for this critical step in the selection process. Final admission decisions for IMSA’s Class of 2004 will be announced in late May.
Dr. LuAnn Smith, director of enrollment services, said the Student Review Committee plays an important role in the decision-making. “The Academy benefits by receiving the advice and perspectives of respected leaders from throughout the state,” she said. “Because applicants come from urban, suburban and rural communities, we believe they should be evaluated by people who understand the differences in educational opportunities available throughout Illinois.”
