WORK SERVICE

Campus work service reports are included in the Academy’s assessment reports and these become part of the students’ files. Completion of campus work service is required for graduation. Three hours of work per week are required for upperclassmen and 30 hours of work for the year are required for sophomores. Students who fail to successfully complete the work service requirements jeopardize their re-invitation or graduation.

Seniors and Juniors select their placement of work service at the end of the school year. Those who do not turn in their preference forms will be placed by the Assistant Director of SLD. All Sophomores have the opportunity to seek out the work service placement of their choice during the 1st quarter of their sophomore year.

General Information:
1.   Regular, punctual attendance and a positive work ethic are essential for a satisfactory evaluation.
2.   Reasons accepted by the Academy for excused absences are: student illness, death in the family, religious holiday, medical appointment, family emergency, mandatory school-sponsored event and pre-arranged absences. Students are responsible for notifying supervisors so that substitute coverage can be arranged.
3.   All unexcused absences must be made up.
4.   Students who fail to fulfill work service obligations in a satisfactory manner or fall four weeks behind in work service will be referred to the Assistant Director of SLD for a solution.
