Presentation Opportunities

There are many scholarly and professional conferences that may be appropriate for student presentation, depending on quality of the work, available funding, and advisor/mentor approval. Please speak with your SIR advisor or mentor about the possibilities.

• American Junior Academy of Sciences: Students travel to the American Association for the Advancement of Science national meeting and present their research at the Junior Academy of Sciences pre-meeting conference.

Deadline: Students are eligible to attend only through participation and nomination of the Illinois Junior Academy of Sciences.

• NCSSSMST Student Research Symposium: This student gathering is organized for the purpose of students presenting their work and discussion with peers, and is sponsored by the consortium of math and science schools that IMSA belongs to.

Publication Opportunities

Peer-reviewed publication of student work is highly encouraged. Below is a partial list of journals that very actively encourage student submissions. Many other professional journals are published, but submission will require advisor/mentor approval. Please speak with them about possibilities if you would like to attempt to publish your work

•  The Concord Review.This is a quarterly review of essays by students of history.
