It’s not how much, it’s how many!
You have probably read “your participation is more important than the size of your gift” in an annual letter from the Academy. We often hear alumni, especially young alumni, say they don't give because they cannot make a big gift, so their gift won't have an impact. That's simply not true.
Alumni giving participation figures are significant for many reasons, including the fact that major donors and grant makers often look to alumni participation levels before making their gift commitment. Giving a donation is a way of affirming what IMSA did for you and continues to do for others.
In Fiscal Year 2005-2006, the class of 1989 had the highest level of participation in annual giving. By making a gift today, in any amount, you will help your class lead the way in FY07. Remember, even our youngest classes can be #1 – it’s not how much, it’s how many!
Class Agents
Are you interested in becoming a class agent? To reach as many of our alumni as possible, our goal is to have one or more class agents per class, but there is no limit to the number of agents we can have! This position offers a wonderful way for you to touch base with some "old" friends, as well as to make a difference in the lives of current and future students, and IMSA as a whole.
Class agents are alumni volunteers responsible for class fund-raising efforts. They have proven to be highly effective liaisons between their classmates and IMSA and have been responsible for tremendous increases in alumni giving.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Contacting 10-15 classmates through telephone calls or correspondence between September and June to ask for their participation in your class' fund-raising efforts.
- Informing your classmates on current issues at IMSA and providing feedback on your classmates' interests and concerns.
- Thanking classmates for their participation and gifts.

Reunion Year Giving
Reunion gift campaigns are an important component of the annual giving program. Each year, the reunion classes raise significant gifts in honor of their reunion celebrations. These efforts include everything class members give or pledge to the IMSA Fund during their reunion year. Celebrating a reunion this year? Alumni Leadership Giving
Several IMSA alumni serve on the IMSA Fund Board of Directors, leading the way and helping to increase our donor support and sustain IMSA for future generations.
